South Sumatra is one of the provinces in Indonesia located in the southern part of Sumatra Island. This province has its capital in Palembang. Besides that Palembang is also famous for its patterned wood carvings which are influenced by Chinese and Buddhist designs. Wood carvings found in the furniture are dominated by jasmine and lotus flower decorations.
